Miles Teller is one of the top rising stars in Hollywood. Naturally, if you’re a fan, you’ll want to check out the best Miles Teller movies in existence.
At just 36, he’s already enjoyed an incredibly eclectic acting career that has seen him star in major franchises, iconic reboots, and epic stand alone features.
Teller has morphed into such a huge star that some even peg him as a realistic option to play Superman next. While I think there are some very good reasons why Teller shouldn’t play Superman, he’s still a fantastic actor and has a lot of movies you should see if you haven’t.
There are more than a few Miles Teller movies worth checking out, but I’ll point you to the ones that are truly worth your time. With that, here are the the best Miles Teller movies you should watch and why.
4. Spiderhead (2022)
Sometimes Rotten Tomatoes and the other movie rating sites get it wrong. I’m here to tell you that’s the case with my first Miles Teller movie suggestion.
Spiderhead isn’t the most amazing movie ever, but it utilizes Miles Teller’s talents well, offers up an original concept, delivers it uniquely, and also has some twists along the way.
Teller plays a convict in a drug trial system, where Chris Hemsworth oversees operations. The goal is to perfect a drug to the point where it can be legally approved, but let’s just say not everything is what it seems.
The drama involved with the drugs and participants is enough to keep you dialed in, but things get darker and murkier from there.
While there is resistance to latch on and support the characters, there is an underlying narrative that everyone is important and valuable, no matter how damaged.
3. Whiplash (2014)
Easily one of the best Miles Teller movies you can – and should – check out asap, is Whiplash. Teller plays a young pupil (Andrew Neiman) who seeks a spot in the most prestigious jazz ensemble at his school.
There have been stories about pursuing perfection, unorthodox teaching styles, and achieving goals, but Whiplash blends them all together, mixes in a dash of mental steroids, and vomits them across the room.
In a good way, of course.
Teller literally learned to drum at a high level to pull off his role in the film, and he came away fulfilled as far as what he gave to the movie, as well as what he got out of it.
This movie for me was by far the closest I’ve come to life imitating art.
Miles Teller on Whiplash
J.K. Simmons actually won an Oscar for his role as Teller’s brilliant (but extremely abusive) instructor.
The dynamic between these two is something to behold, as Teller’s character is driven to obtain his teacher’s approval, and it’s often unclear if that’s even remotely plausible.
2. War Dogs
One of the top Miles Teller movies you need to watch is War Dogs, which pairs the surging actor with Jonah Hill in a story about drug runners.
It starts out nice enough, with Hill and Teller’s characters building up an impressive business of running rugs. As expected, though, things start to spiral out of control and the once tight bond between the main characters becomes frayed.
Jonah Hill does an amazing job in War Dogs, but Teller is the voice of reason throughout, and he’s got bigger fish to fry when things really start getting ugly.
Who knew being international arms dealers could turn into a hot mess so quickly?
War Dogs gets plenty serious when it counts, but it’s also rather upbeat and hilarious at times. Rotten Tomatoes scored it an underwhelming 61%, while the audience gave it a solid 69%.
I’d rate it even higher, as the acting is top shelf, and viewers get a realistic and entertaining toe-dip into a dark underworld they’ll be glad they never actually had to face.
1. Top Gun: Maverick
There are actually several good Miles Teller movies you’ll want to see. The rising actor has a number of quality films from his younger days, after all.
While true, you’re here for the very best Miles Teller movies, and I’ll cap this list off with a very recent addition via the Top Gun sequel.
Top Gun 2 drew critical acclaim with the return of Tom Cruise, as well as Goose’s son, who just so happens to be played by Teller.
I won’t give away the storyline here, but let’s just say this is one sequel you’re going to want to check out.
Top Gun: Maverick does a masterful job at paying tribute to the original, providing some nice nostalgia, and also bringing some freshness and intensity to the franchise.
Cruise is the big draw here, to be sure, but Teller is a key piece to the puzzle, and the movie as a whole is quite the enjoyable ride.
What’s crazier? Top Gun 3 might be in the works, too.
As noted, there are other films you should check out if you like Miles Teller. However, these are Miles Teller’s best movies in this writer’s opinion. Check them all out and tell me otherwise.
