5 Reasons Why Ted Lasso Season 4 Has to Happen

Ted Lasso cast members

I feel like Ted Lasso just got here. Despite quickly finding a secure spot in my list of go-to TV shows, the Jason Sudeikis smash hit is seemingly already on its way off of our tiny little screens.

It’s quite a shame, too. We’ve been blessed with two magical seasons – with a third on it’s way – and the craziest part is the show isn’t only good because of the titular character.

Don’t get me wrong, Sudeikis appropriately secured Emmy wins for his work here, but this is a banger of a cast, and the writing for the first two seasons has been amazing. That said, it does feel like Ted Lasso has worked its way into a corner, and the end if near.

Of course, writers can always figure a way out of this jam. It’s kind of what they do. Besides, there are some very good reasons why Ted Lasso season 4 has to happen. I’ve got five.

1. Ted Lasso is a Cultural Phenomenon

I have yet to run into someone that doesn’t like Ted Lasso. If I do, I’ll probably wish I hadn’t.

In all seriousness, this show is a straight up cultural phenomenon. Ted Lasso has developed into a cultural touchstone, with fans and critics alike praising its heartwarming themes, cutting humor, and brilliant cast.

This series boasts infectious positivity and uplifting messages, while also sprinkling real world problems, stellar character development, and a little bit of insanity.

The impact of this show on society has been felt. Tearing it away from us after just three seasons doesn’t really feel right.

2. This is the Role Jason Sudeikis Was Born to Play

While the impact this show has had on people is impossible to ignore, I’ll bite if you think that take is a tad foolish. So, if you don’t think Ted Lasso season 4 should happen for us, maybe consider that it should happen for the main actor.

Yes, that’s right, Ted Lasso 4 should come to fruition if for no other reason than to continue to give Jason Sudeikis a vehicle for his talent, and in turn, his own torment.

Here’s Sudeikis on hitting rock bottom and trying to pick the pieces up with Ted Lasso.

If you have the opportunity to hit a rock bottom, however you define that, you can become 412 bones or you can land like an Avenger. I personally have chosen to land like an Avenger.

As some may already know, Sudeikis mirrored his character in real life, as he dealt with a troublesome divorce while shooting the first seasons. This show helped him blossom into a superstar, but it also was a form of catharticisim.

Sudeikis could keep returning to that medicinal role, while nurturing a part he was simply born to play.

3. There Are More Awards to Be Won

Hollywood doesn’t often turn their head up at things that breed success. Why? Because success means more money. In this case, Ted Lasso season 4 would undeniably rake in some extra bucks, and it also could win more awards.

Ted Lasso has been a big winner at the Emmy Awards in recent years. In fact, he now has four wins.

While Sudeikis has been the vibrant star that gets a lot of the praise, his amazing cast and writing team have also at worst been nominated.

More Ted Lasso gives way to more inspirational writing and powerful (or hilarious) acting performances the Emmys will have a hard time ignoring.

The studios still probably think ending a good thing early is the right move, but there are more awards to be won and money to be made with a fourth Ted Lasso season.

4. Jason Sudeikis Hasn’t Said a Firm No

Another reason why Ted Lasso season 4 has to happen? Nobody has officially come out and said it for sure won’t.

Jason Sudeikis was recently interviewed and while he emphasized that the focus should remain on season three, he carried a “never say never” vibe.

That doesn’t mean we’ll get a fourth season of Ted Lasso. It also isn’t necessarily the best “reason” to produce another installment.

However, if the leader of the show doesn’t feel like it has to end just yet, then why would it?

Sudeikis mentioned that he wanted to be proud of something and have it not be inconsequential. As long as he can come up with a Ted Lasso season four idea worth telling, a return can’t be ruled out.

5. The Story is Far From Over

My last reason for why Ted Lasso season 4 needs to happen? The story can’t possibly be over.

The maturation of the characters has been rather abrupt. We are admittedly now on a collision course with Lasso and his former pupil, whilst the owners of two respective soccer clubs (and ex-spouses) are about to butt heads.

But can we come full circle to a resolution for those rifts – and Lasso’s individual story – in just one more season? My guess is no.

So, unless the folks at Apple TV are content with an incomplete tale, they better get crackin’ on a fourth Ted Lasso season.

I could come up with more reasons why Ted Lasso season 4 has to happen. The beauty is, these five will do. Of course, if you have some you think add to the argument, feel free to drop them in the comments!
