The Terminator and 4 More Movies Alan Ritchson Would Be Perfect For

Alan Ritchson behind a mic

Alan Ritchson is an undeniable star on the rise in Hollywood.

He’s flashed his game-changing ability and brooding physique in the past, but it wasn’t until he broke out in Amazon’s Reacher that people really started taking notice of his potential.

Reacher season 2 is on it’s way, but it’s arguing that Ritchson has bigger projects on the horizon. What could (or should) those be? I’ve got five ideas for movies that should cast Alan Ritchson.

Terminator Reboot

Whatever it ends up being – a continuation or a full reboot – I don’t think we can or should deny the Alan Ritchson Terminator rumors.

The guy is perfectly built to handle this role, and nobody needs further evidence than what he’s shown in one season as Jack Reacher.

The Terminator is a very similar character, only completely indestructible and more robotic.

Ritchson has the acting chops, comedic timing, and hulking frame to be the best Terminator actor yet. Okay, even I know that feels incredibly hyperbolic, but hey, Ritchson would make complete sense if and when Hollywood wants to reboot the tired franchise.

James Bond Reboot

Don’t get me wrong, there could be better actors to be considered for the next James Bond. There are certainly more established options, as well as others who “make more sense”.

We’re not used to seeing Agent 007 crushing skulls with little effort, after all.

That said, Alan Ritchson would not lack any confidence and that’s the #1 trademark every Bond actor has possessed in spades.

This would be a totally new era, too, seeing as Ritchson doesn’t have the size or frame of a traditional James Bond. He also isn’t British.

While it’s probably not going to happen, Alan Ritchson as James Bond would absolutely be a ton of fun.

Indiana Jones Reboot

Harrison Ford just got done wrapping up his final installment as the man with the whip and fedora. By all accounts, that is the officially signing off of the legendary Indiana Jones character.

Ford literally once suggested the character dies with him, after all.

If we’re to believe that, then going back and forth on possible Indiana Jones actors is admittedly foolish.

However, Hollywood loves a good remake, and Indiana Jones is a money-making franchise.

There are a lot of qualified actors that look more like Ford and could pull off this role, but what if they opted for a bigger, more badass Indy?

If so, Alan Ritchson as Indiana Jones would be a risk worth taking.

Any Movie The Rock Has Starred In

This is a bit of a cop out, but I felt something more all encompassing would make more sense, seeing as these guys share such similar traits.

The Rock has a lot of great action movies, so I’m really leaving it to the reader to pick and choose which ones you’d want to see Ritchson take over.

Personally, I’d go with a remake of The Rundown.

Ritchson would not be far removed from a character he executes perfectly right now, plus we’d get to see his underrated wit and humor on display even more.

There’s no doubt in my mind he’d crush this role, and almost any other The Rock movie would see him as a viable replacement option, as well.

An X-Men Origin Movie

This is another one where there is more than one option that could work beautifully. One way or another, though, it feels a little criminal that Ritchson’s humor and physicality haven’t been utilized in MCU feature films yet.

Ritchson has displayed his superhero chops in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Titans, so we know he can do this at a high level already.

The question is whether he should play Juggernaut or Colossus.

Seeing as he’s now 40 years old, Ritchson would be playing an older version of either character. However, he doesn’t at all look like he is slowing down physically, so I don’t know if there are true limitations here.

What Big Movie Role Will Alan Ritchson Play Next?

Overall, I think the movie role that makes the most sense for Alan Ritchson is The Terminator. It really does feel so obvious that I’m worried Hollywood will ignore him when looking to recast the role.

That said, Ritchson has made a name for himself thanks to his physique, action-scene chops, and general acting ability. It’s also worth looking back at the movies and TV shows he’s already excelled in, too.

Bigger things are coming his way, and I’d personally love to see some of the above movies feature him.
