Link from legend of zelda
  • A live action Legend of Zelda movie is coming, but who will be cast as Link?
  • Tom Holland is a fan favorite that looks the part and could be a perfect choice.
  • Thomas Brodie-Sangster has experience with the film’s director and could make sense.

There are whispers circulating that The Legend of Zelda is finally getting a live action movie. This is great news, as we already took a look at who could play Zelda.

Now that it’s coming to fruition, it’s time to get serious about potential The Legend of Zelda casting decisions. The rumor mill has Chris Pratt as one potential option to be Link, but I think that has to be social media just losing it’s mind.

Instead, here are six legit possible Link actors that would crush the role.

Tom Holland

The first possible Link actor on everyone’s mind for the Legend of Zelda movie has to be Tom Holland.

There are a many reasons why Holland makes sense as Link. First, he has proven he can carry a successful franchise as Spider-Man. Second, he has the stature and look of Link, who is smaller, thin, and even a little feminine looking.

Thirdly, there is some fan art out there that shows how seamlessly Holland would slide into this role.

On top of that, one of the producers attached to the Legend of Zelda film also played a hand in Uncharted, which was another beloved video game that made it to the big screen.

Put simply, Holland looks the part, he’s a huge star, and he’s had success with video game franchises transitioning to Hollywood.

Thomas Brodie-Sangster

Many will remember Thomas Brodie-Sangster from The Maze Runner trilogy, while he’s also made an impact in Godless and The Queen’s Gambit.

He’s come a long way since his big break as a wide-eyed kid in The Maze Runner back in 2014. That franchise set forth the path to stardom, however, and gives us proof this kid can handle this type of material on the big screen.

While Brodie-Sangster has yet to fully carry a franchise all on his own, the 33-year old could be ready to make his mark on the big screen in a bigger and bolder way.

Taking over as Link would give his career a noted boost, and he has the look and acting chops to deliver.

Jacob Tremblay

What if the people behind the Legend of Zelda live action movie casting prefer a younger Link? I’d think Nintendo would want someone they can grow with and tell numerous stories with, after all.

The 17-year old Tremblay could be the perfect young star to grow with.

Despite his youth, Tremblay has 39 acting credits and was famously part of the hard-hitting Room.

This role would be a true step out into stardom, and it’s admittedly unclear if he’s fully equipped to handle the gig. That said, he has the look and talent to make it happen if given the chance.

Jacob Elordi

Going young could be the route Nintendo and Sony opt for when casting Link for the Legend of Zelda, but that doesn’t mean their lead has to be 17 years old.

Someone like Jacob Elordi makes plenty of sense as Link, too. Still just 26, Elordi is plenty young for the franchise to maximize their time with, and he also has the looks and charm to play a convincing Link.

Elordi is no stranger to raw acting thanks to his long stay on HBO hit Euphoria, while he’s even taken on the role of Elvis in Priscilla.

There isn’t much to go off of from his resume that tells us he’d specifically kill as Link, but he offers the total package in terms of talent and potential in this role.

Jack Champion

Back to the youth debate we go, which could make the 18-year old Jack Champion a realistic candidate to play Link in the Legend of Zelda film.

Champion flashed his ability in a fantasy-friendly franchise as Spider in Avatar: The Way of Water, and he already has 18 acting credits to his name.

He’s still a bit of an unknown, but he also held his own in Retribution and Scream VI. He is a rising Hollywood actor that could be ready to take on the leading role for a blockbuster franchise.

Timothe Chalamet

When in doubt, add Timothe Chalamet to your potential Link actors list. The guys has been attached to virtually every role in Hollywood, and there’s no denying his talent or star power.

It’s arguable that die hard Legend of Zelda fans wouldn’t want such a big name attached to play Link, which is why he and Holland have drawn pushback as possible choices.

While not everyone would agree, Chalamet has the look and features of Link, and we know he can handle a sword.

He dazzled in The King, which also happens to be one of Robert Pattinson’s best movies, by the way.

Chalamet has played the hero arc before, and few young actors can rival his raw acting ability or experience.

The kid has been masterful in period pieces, dramas, and is the driving force behind the revived Dune franchise. There’s no doubt in my mind he’d make a fantastic Link.

Predicting Who Will Play Link

Okay, that does it for my list of potential Link actors. There are a lot of viable choices when looking at who will play Link in the Legend of Zelda live action movie, but I’d start with my list.

The big question is if Hollywood wants someone the producers and/or director is familiar with, or if they just go with a total unknown.

We know one of the producers has worked with Tom Holland, while the director also manned The Maze Runner franchise. Could that put Thomas Brodie-Sangster at the front of the line? I think it just might.

Holland or Chalamet would be massive signings for this project, but someone a little more under the radar like Thomas Brodie-Sangster might be the perfect pick.

Who do you think will play Link? Like my casting ideas, or have some of your own? Tell me in the comments!
