Daenerys Targaryen with a white horse
  • With Hollywood in love with spin off ideas, there could be more GOT series coming.
  • Jon Snow could get his own show, but Arya Stark is just as deserving.
  • A Daenerys Targaryen return is among the most compelling Game of Thrones spin off ideas.

Game of Thrones will go down as one of the best TV series of all-time. It fizzled at the end in the eyes of many, but from top to bottom, it was still one of the most engrossing shows in history.

It’s already spawned a successful prequel series, and another Game of Thrones spin off series could be in the works with whispers of Jon Snow returning.

Hollywood loves dipping its toe back into the success pool. If it worked before, with a new twist, it can work again. That had me looking at some pretty killer Breaking Bad spin off ideas recently, and now I’m getting excited about possible Game of Thrones spin off shows.

The ideas are admittedly endless, so feel free to chime in below in the comments section. I’ve got a few I’d like to see, however, so let’s jump into my top 5 potential Game of Thrones spin offs.

5. The Faceless Men

The possibilities are endless here. We can really go back into the origin of the face-changing assassins, we could get more of Jaqen H’ghar, or maybe even Arya Stark pops up for a cameo.

We only got a snippet of this world in Game of Thrones, though.

For the quotes alone, a Faceless Men Game of Thrones spin off might be worth our time.

The Red God has his due, sweet girl, and only death may pay for life. This girl took three that were his. This girl must give three in their places. Speak their names, and a man will do the rest.

Jaqen H’ghar to Arya Stark in Game of Thrones

There are some profound lessons to be learned via the Faceless Men, and whether that is a Jaqen H’ghar prequel, spin off, or something else entirely, I’m game to take the journey.

4. The Chronicles of Arya Stark

Whether we get a Game of Thrones spin off series on the Faceless Men or not, something to do with Arya Stark would promise to be a lot of fun.

A prequel isn’t really an option, of course, as we literally got her origin story already from when she was a child to when she became a teenage assasin.

Arya survived the mothership series and decided to travel outside of Westeros to see what else was out there. An Arya Stark spin off show could be as simple as that – a faceless assassin roaming the country.

Maisie Williams made this character famous, so ideally she’s return to continue the story. She is a bit of a badass, after all.

Luckily, Williams is still just 25 years old and isn’t tied up with too many other projects, so if HBO wanted to make an Arya Stark TV show, they certainly could explore it.

Arya Stark already served her purpose, to be clear. She avenged her family, she killed The Night King, and she lived to tell about it. However, she’s still in her prime as a fighter, and Williams offers quick wit and humor that few can.

If HBO is already exploring a Jon Snow spin off series, they damn well better be thinking about a show featuring Arya Stark, too.

3. The Night’s Watch Goes On

At the end of Game of Thrones we catch the demise of the Night’s Watch as we know it. The wall came down, and for all intents and purposes, the squad protecting Westeros from everything that goes bump in the night kind of failed.

However, there are two obvious routes to consider with a Game of Thrones spin off idea here.

  • The Night’s Watch Prequel
  • The Night’s Watch Regroups

The easiest and best route here is a Game of Thrones spin off series that focuses on the origins of the Night’s Watch.

This would introduce brand new characters and build the series from the ground up, while connecting loosely to the GOT universe we know and love.

Depending on how far back a possible The Night’s Watch TV show wanted to go, the timeline here is borderline endless. So, too, would it be if we just returned to where GOT left us and had a new crew picking up the pieces at the wall.

One way or another, there is more story to be told at the wall and a Night’s Watch show could make for great television.

2. Littlefinger Prequel Series

Has the shipped sailed on getting more Aiden Gillen as Lord Petyr Baelish? It sure would seem so.

The actor is now 54 years old, and the last we saw this devilishly delightful character, he had his throat slit and was bleeding out at the feet of House Stark.

This, even though there could have been such a bigger and grander storyline with him.

While Petyr Baelish’s potential was never fully realized by the Game of Thrones decision-makers, I would never say no to Gillen returning to this role. Could we get a mini-prequel involving untold Littlefinger stories, or showing him in the years leading up to Ned Stark’s arrival?

Heck, could we drum up a reality where that wasn’t even Littlefinger who died? Or he somehow survived?

I’d be game for both, because a Littlefinger spin off series would be simply sublime with Gillen leading the charge.

Of course, there’s also room for a full reboot here. I would want nothing more than to see Gillen getting to play this character again, but could a younger actor start fresh and give us similar gusto?

If HBO felt it was doable – or one of my other ideas could work – this may be my favorite Game of Thrones spin off idea yet.

1. The Return of Daenerys Targaryen

Am I calling for a full Game of Thrones return? Not necessarily. However, even some of the cast has joined the march with fans against the original show’s terrible ending.

Killing off Khaleesi? Borderline blasphemous. Plus, the series turned the main character we rooted for this whole time into a ruthless villain, almost over night.

Daenerys didn’t deserve the ending she got, and there are plenty of Game of Thrones theories out there that suggest she’s not even dead.

Is there a world where a Daenerys Targaryan series could work? I’d say so. Besides, we know Emilia Clarke has a soft spot for this character, and probably wouldn’t mind a re-do.

Perhaps we get her revived in a Game of Throne spin-off, while some type of collision course with a potential Jon Snow sequel could be interesting to anticipate, as well.

The fun thing about dreaming up Game of Thrones spin-off ideas is that any of these options could in some way take place within each other.

If the Jon Snow series actually happens, we could still easily get side stories involving the Faceless Men, Arya, Daenerys, and much more.

Who knows what GOT spin offs we’ll actually get. All I know is this is one of the most binge-worthy TV shows of all-time, and I need more of this universe injected into my veins.
